Humanscale's Smart Chair designed by Neils Diffrient, was initially developed in 2010. In 2015, this product was re-engineered to meet the "Living Product Challenge" requirements set by the International Living Future Institute, which requires the manufacturing of a product to have a net-positive impact on the environment. The process for certifying this product required reevaluating all materials, manufacturing processes, and operational processes that go into the Smart Chair.
